International Conference on Global Education for Peace, Harmony and Development

Army Institute of Education organized one-day International Conference on Global Education for Peace, Harmony and Development in association with World Without Anger (WWA), Nepal and Global Harmony Association (GHA), India on 7th October, 2017 at Manekshaw Auditorium, Delhi. The conference was attended by various participants who included school principals, teacher educators and pupil teachers from various educational institutes. The event started with an auspicious lamp lightening ceremony to give the conference a kinetic initiation. The opening address was delivered by Dr. Saksham Singh, Principal, AIE who talked about fostering peace through inculcation of values for peaceful co-existence. Lt Gen MM Naravance, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC Delhi Area, Chief Guest of the Conference delivered his address to the assembly. He has been an exceptional army man and has also been awarded a silver spoon when he served at the Indian Embassy of Myanmar for three years. He threw light on multifarious issues pertaining to global education and youth leadership for sustainable development. Major General (Dr) Sunil Chandra, VSM (Retd), Managing Director Army Welfare of Education Society, New Delhi and Brig SS Bhogal, VSM, BGS HQ Delhi Area also graced the event with their presence. 1dThe Special Guest, Mr. DM Basnet, President/CEO, World Without Anger, Nepal talked about emotional intelligence which is an integral element of our educational system. The panel of erudite scholars included Dr. Markandey Rai, Vice President and Prof. Subhash Chandra, President GHA who shed light on the significance of interdependence of education and peace. The keynote speaker, Prof. Dhananjay Joshi, USE, GGSIPU, Delhi magnified the concept of promoting sustainable development across the globe. He has also published copious research papers and books on education and upliftment of society. The Inaugural session was concluded by Ms. Pratibha Garg (co-ordinator) with a vote of thanks.


In Technical Session I, Prof. Surendra Pathak HOD, (Department of Value Education and Director Research IASE, Dean University), Dr. Hemlata, Director (National Centre for Disability Studies IGNOU) and Dr. Yadam Ram Kumar, President (Yadam Institute of Research, India and Peace University USA), Dr. Laxman Shakya, Vise President, (WWA, Nepal) opined strongly on Global Education and Universal Peace Values for Global Citizenship and Global Education and Youth Leadership for democracy.

1cIn Technical Session II, Guest of honor, Chairperson General Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, (IPC, India Command & GHA, Vice President), Mr. Ramesh Kumar, (Executive Director and Vice President, GHA), Dr. Sanjay Tewari, (UP Athletic Association, State Co-ordinator of  IAAF kids Athletics Program, India), Dr Chand Bharadwaj, (Trustee of GHA, India) and Dr Bharti, Associate Prof Depy. Of Education of groups with special needs NCERT expressed their views on the Role of Digital Technology in Global Education for sustainable development Innovation and revolution in the new millennium and Global Education and Cultural Diplomacy – creating human bonds through cultural diplomacy.

The Valedictory session started with a thought provoking address by the Chief Guest Major General (Dr) Sunil Chandra, VSM (Retd), managing Director Army Welfare of Education Society, New Delhi. In his long career, he has held many prestigious appointments. He has also been the chairman of the Board of Governor of Army Education Core. Prof Jitendra Singh Naruka, Director National Olympics Academy laid emphasis on importance of Sports in promoting global peace education & to harness leadership traits. Finally, the participants were encouraged with certificates. The convener of the conferences, Ms. Pratibha Garg proposed a vote of thanks to the resource persons, guests and all the faculty members of various institutes for their cooperation and for making this grand event a success.
